About common carotid artery palpation,It's a controversial question..It could be thyroid cartilage acc. to Clinical Anatomy by Systems by Richard Snell like I told you... But if you see where it's palpated i.e. against the Chassignac's tubercle which is the transverse process of C6
ReplyDeletevertebra. Since the level of C6 is at lower border of thyroid cartilage
and the anterior cricoid cartilage ring, one may lean towards cricoid more than thyroid..However,in the end it all depends on what was in the mind of the examiner while setting the paper!
About the NiTi question, Do you have any Ref for your statement?
ReplyDeleteCuz if you read this at least we cannot say that it cannot be bent at all!
Steel can withstand up to 20 complete
bending cycles, while Ni-Ti can be bent up to
1,000 times.8 This difference is related to the
different atomic structure of the two alloys, in
particular the transition from austenite to
martensite that occurs in Ni-Ti. The transfor-
mation characteristic depends on the ambi-
ent temperature and thermal pretreatment of
the alloy9 but usually takes place below tem-
peratures in the dental setting so that the
alloy is in the austenitic form (see Fig 2a).
In addition to the transition from austenite
to martensite under load, via twinned marten-
site, there is also a transition from the
so-called R-phase (see Figs 2b and 2c), a
temperature-dependent crystalline structure,
to martensite. This transition further con-
tributes to the ability of Ni-Ti to absorb stress-
es and thus to resist fatigue
